KB's Standard Schnauzers, located in San Diego, CA is our home. Our puppies, when we have them, are raised in our home, with the family... never in a kennel.
I acquired my first Standard Schnauzer in 1971...or rather was selected by Wuffi-T von Robin when I went to buy a Mini. Much to my surprise they were Standards...To make a long story short---Once you have a Standard you are hooked! We have been owned by the breed ever since.
Fourteen years passed as did Wuffi, and Gordon wanted me to have another dog. We started our search and got our Obedience girl KB's Schoene Maedel CD, and then our first show boy, Punker (CH Pepper Tree Sensation, CD) My current Pepper and salt dogs are his Grandson (CH Stahlkrieger KB's Sonofablitz) and Great Grandaughter, (CH VonStocker's Scarlett O'Aura).
When Punker was just a baby, I attended my first Standard Schnauzer Club of America Specialty and saw my first black...it was love at first site. I knew in time I would add black to our family, and was lucky enough to be able to adopt my first black baby Lacy (CH Stahlkrieger's Black Lace) and now have Heather (CH Stahlkrieger Heather von KBS), her daughter Jade, (CH KB's Black Jade) and Granddaughter, Scarlet, the newest champion (CH KB's Midnight Haagen-Dazs). About to embark on his show career, her brother, KB's Midnight Othello is currently with us.
The SS is an active, high energy dog and not for everyone. They are beautiful to watch, with grace and fluid movement, but do require grooming and training. They can be clowns and never a day goes by they don't provide a laugh or two. Given an inch, they will take a mile, and being a strong breed and very athletic, they like a job, wether it be agility, obedience, herding, tracking, or conformation shows. Most Thursday evenings find us either training or working the dogs with the Obedience Club of San Diego County. Inc. I am a member of APDT( Association of Pet Dog Trainers), SSCA (Standard Schnauzer Club of America) and am active with the SSCSC (Standard Schnauzer Club of Southern California)
We don't breed often, but when we do we breed for good health and temperament. Coats and substance are also considered. Our breeding program is to maintain the great qualities of the breed (see the Breed Standards of the SSCA) We abide by the Code of Ethics of the SSCA, SSCSC and AKC. We place our puppies with companion or show potential contracts. The companion, or pet puppy has a limited registration and is sold with a spay/neuter agreement.
